STUDENT
It's important to begin planning early for your "transition" (a word you'll hear teachers use that means change from high school to life afterwards). You can't wait until the last minute; you need to start early. You don't want to be standing there after graduation without a clue about what happens next. If you wait until you're a senior, there might not be enough time. You don't want a last minute future.
Start at your Individual Education Plan (IEP). The law requires that your school help you start planning for life after high school at age 16. It's called "Transition Planning". You have an opportunity to take the lead and make sure your future is planned the way you want it.
From Conversations to Actions using the IPP
This booklet shares the real life stories of how individuals can set their goals and objectives and work through the IPP process to achieve them. (This booklet is provided in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, or are unsure, you may download Adobe Reader from Adobe's website for free.)
